Season 3 of Overwatch 2 is winding down, and players may be wondering when and what to expect from Season 4.
Overwatch 2 Season 4 – Release date
Season 4 of Overwatch 2 hasn’t been given a firm release date yet, but if it follows the same pattern as the other seasons, players can expect it to come out in early April. Season 3 kicked off on February 7, so if each season thus far lasts nine weeks, Season 4 would begin on April 11.
What Overwatch 2 Season 4 – Battle Pass
While the theme of Overwatch 2‘s next battle pass is anyone’s guess, we can rest assured that tier 80 players will receive yet another mythic skin that can be customized to their liking. Based on previous mythics, this elaborate outfit will most likely belong to someone who has been on the game’s hero roster for a while, rather than Season 4’s new hero.
Overwatch 2 Season 4 – New hero
Despite the lack of official confirmation, players can get a sense of what to expect from the new hero thanks to Blizzard’s helpful and intriguing hints.
Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller revealed to NME that the next two heroes following Season 3 will both be supports, with “some new mechanics and really exciting ways of interacting with your own team.” Based on this, it’s safe to assume that the new hero will be a healer with previously unseen abilities.
Furthermore, Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss dropped a hint that the next Overwatch hero might be human by saying, “cute like Mercy.” This could rule out some possible Overwatch characters, like Mauga, and suggest that the next character will be humanoid in some way. He also hinted at the hero’s special abilities, calling them “completely unique” and “really interesting to watch unfold in high-level games.”
What Overwatch 2 Season 4 – Map changes
Since the Antarctic Peninsula was added in Season 3, there will be no new map added in Season 4. This is because of the game’s alternating content schedule. Players can still look forward to battling it out on a new set of maps, as Blizzard will be removing map pools entirely with the release of the new season.
Of course, maps specific to Overwatch’s 2CP mode (such as Hanamura) will continue to be excluded, but every map available for Control, Push, Hybrid, and Escort will now be included. This simple, long-awaited change will make gameplay much more varied and entertaining.
